Positive outcomes on GCSE results day across The Mercian Trust
Over 1,700 students at the nine Sandwell and Walsall secondary schools in The Mercian Trust have collected their GCSE and Level 2 results today.
There have been a number of positive trends that underline The Mercian Trust’s purpose of increasing opportunities and improving outcomes for all students.
At Q3 Academy Tipton, following a record-breaking year in which the school was judged to be Good by Ofsted for the first time in its history, results have been significantly better than in previous years with particular success in academic attainment. One in ten entries have been graded 7-9 and nearly half of all students received at least one top level grade, almost twice as many as last year.
The Ladder School, The Mercian Trust’s alternative provision free school for students at risk of permanent exclusion from mainstream education, recorded its best set of results ever with significant improvements across six different key measures. Students will be able to take their next step on their education journey with qualifications that they would only have dreamed of achieving before starting at The Ladder School.
At Q3 Academy Langley, amazing grades across the board are continuing to be awarded, gaining both local and national recognition as some of the best grades in the country.
At Aldridge School there has been a massive leap in the number of students achieving the very highest grade possible, with 62 grade 9s being awarded compared to 45 last year, demonstrating the focus on teaching to the highest standard and raising students’ aspirations to achieve the best possible outcomes.
At Queen Mary’s High School and Queen Mary’s Grammar School results were excellent once again, with particular success in narrowing the gap between disadvantaged and non-disadvantaged students to almost zero.
We are proud of all our students wish them continued success as they progress on to our sixth forms and to other post-16 destinations.
